New silk scarves for charity

So, here is how insane I am: Leading up to Open Studios—the busiest time of year for me because I’m often doing everything at the last minute (making more art, pricing items, labeling, dragging equipment upstairs from the basement, downstairs from the attic, etc.)–I get an email from the Washington Gateway Main Street organization that I created a hand painted scarf for last year. I ignored the email because I was too busy to even think about adding one more thing to my to-do list.

So, then someone called me to personally ask if I would paint another scarf this year for the group’s annual auction. Do I say, “No, I can’t do it, I’m too busy”? Absolutely….not. I say, “Sure—give me TWO!” I am insane! I can’t help myself. I love making art. I love knowing that my art can help someone. I love thinking I can do everything–even if that is not true. Here are the scarves I created. (And, remember, I have no idea what I’m doing. I don’t paint on silk.)

Now that Open Studios is over and these scarves are off in the mail to the organization I can take a little breather. Today I spent time making a lovely chicken chilli soup preparing for the snow (in October!). I took a little nap, too. Nice weekend. Now I need to start thinking about Art Every Day Month that starts on Tuesday.

Something to think about

I found this list on a Facebook posting by the Artful Phoenix in North Attleboro, Mass. It made me laugh. I’m often guilty of most of the items on this list, but I’m working on trying NOT to do these things.

Great Open Studios Weekend!

My Open Studios event was this weekend, and it was fantastic! Lots of people, lots of great feedback, lots of sales. So grateful. I’m most grateful to my friends—these amazing people who support my creative endeavors year after year and inspire me. They even hosted a little reception dinner for me on Saturday night with apple pie AND a gift of art supplies! Love, love, love you my wonderful friends (including all those who took time out of very busy schedules to stop by)! And, thank you husband and child for indulging my artsy insanity, especially during busy times like this weekend. The love goes without saying. OK….I’m saying it: LOVE YOU!  Now, I’m absolutely exhausted, but it’s a good feeling.

Lovey
